The 2nd Athens International Children’s Film Festival is proud to announce the winning films for the audience awards of this year’s edition! For the Best Short Film Award, the audience chose Dunk by Sophie Martin. Screened as part of the Teen Spirit programme for ages 13 plus, Dunk and its young protagonist’s struggle to overcome the death of her parents through her favourite sport, basketball, left no viewer unmoved.
For the Best Feature Film Award, the audience went with Sune vs Sune by Jon Holmberg. No surprise for this crowd-pleasing fantasy-comedy which had viewers both young and old falling out of their seats with laughter during it’s first screening at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall. One thing is for sure, after seeing this film, no one will be able to see Romeo and Juliet in the same light again…
For the School Screenings Award, students chose There Is No Love Stronger Than Ours by Laure Bourdon Zarader. The director herself was present for the School Screenings and was subjected to a deluge of questions by young audience members about her sweet love story about two children, while also signing autographs in the foyer of Danaos Cinema. Our sincere congratulations to the winners and see you next year!
