Alfred Hitchcock once said, “In fictional films, the director is God; in documentaries, God is the director.” But how is a documentary made? Participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of characters for a real film, “BugBoy” by Loukas Palaiokrassas, which is currently in the editing stage. Through the process and discussions with the director, they will learn how a documentary is filmed and how a film takes shape during shooting and editing.
The documentary “BugBoy” tells the story of 16-year-old George, who struggles to make friends. Frustrated by human relationships and disconnected from his peers, George finds a unique way to cope: he dedicates himself to his passion for nature and finds solace in the tiny world of insects.
The film is being produced with the support of the Greek Film Centre and is a collaboration among Anemon (Greece), Toolbox (Denmark), and Flach Film Production (France).
