For many Saturdays this summer, the Athens International Children's Film Festival has selected the most exciting films to be screened at the Great Lawn of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. Free entrance!

Once again, Park Your Cinema kids will be hosted at the Great Lawn of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, and the Athens International Children’s Film Festival has curated the films that will entertain our young friends on several Saturdays this summer. Free entrance!

Saturday 25/05 | 21.00 Great Lawn

The Magic Flute (2022)

The movie will be screened with Greek subtitles.

Director: Florian Sigl

Seventeen-year-old Tim has always dreamed of attending the Mozart All Boys boarding school. Despite his excitement at finally being accepted, his first days at the famous school do not go as expected. Faced with a hostile headmaster, the anxieties of first love, and the struggle to find his true voice, Tim discovers a secret passage: a portal to a parallel world. From there, he is drawn into a new reality and immersed in the world of Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute, where imagination knows no bounds. However, living two lives comes at a cost, and Tim risks disappointing those he loves. He must choose, but has he learned enough to make the right decision?

Life flows peacefully in Iolcos, the beautiful and thriving port of ancient Greece. That is, until Poseidon becomes enraged and threatens to wipe it out. A clever and adventurous young mouse, along with the cat who acts as his adoptive father, rush to assist the now-aged Jason and the Argonauts in their mission to save the city. This expedition will lead them to distant lands, home to mythical creatures and some of the most dangerous monsters of mythology.

The Middle Kingdom (2023) – Sensory Friendly Screening

The movie will be screened dubbed in Greek.

We are in the year 50 B.C. The Empress of China has just been imprisoned following a coup led by a traitorous prince. With the help of a Phoenician merchant and her loyal bodyguard, the Empress’s only daughter, Princess Sass-Yi, seeks refuge in Gaul to request help from the two brave warriors, Asterix and Obelix, who possess superhuman strength thanks to their magic potion. Our two inseparable heroes gladly agree to help the princess save her mother and liberate her country. Thus begins a grand journey and an adventure on the road to China. Meanwhile, Caesar and his powerful army, eager for a new conquest, are also heading towards the Middle Kingdom.

The Little Mermaid (2023)

In Disney’s impressive live-action remake, the legendary Little Mermaid is brought to life by Halle Bailey, and the award-winning director Rob Marshall transports us to the captivating underwater world of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale, reviving the Oscar-winning animated musical.

Ariel, the beautiful mermaid and youngest daughter of King Triton, longs to learn more about the world beyond the sea. When she visits the surface, she falls in love with Prince Eric. Despite mermaids being forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel decides to follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, who gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately puts her life—and her father’s crown—in jeopardy.

Beauty and the Beast (2017) – Sensory Friendly Screening

Belle (Emma Watson) is a young woman who is imprisoned by the Beast in his castle in exchange for her father Maurice’s freedom. Despite her fear, she befriends the enchanted staff of the castle and learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior, discovering the true heart of the Prince hidden within. Meanwhile, a hunter named Gaston is determined to marry Belle and will stop at nothing to defeat the Beast.

Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016)

The movie will be screened dubbed in Greek.

“Time for a little madness.” The story continues from where we left off at the end of the movie Alice in Wonderland. We will follow Alice on yet another journey, this time through a mirror. Our heroine will be transported to a different dimension, encountering new and familiar characters alike. She will make new friends and face enemies who will set many dangerous traps for her. Their goal is to trap her in another space-time universe.

Brave (2012)

The movie will be screened dubbed in Greek.

Merida, in addition to being an exceptional archer, is the impulsive daughter of the brave King Fergus and the strong-willed Queen Elinor. Determined to carve out her own path in life amidst the rugged and mysterious landscape of the Scottish Highlands, Merida defies an ancient custom sacred to the boisterous lords of the land: the massive Lord MacGuffin, the surly Lord Macintosh, and the cantankerous Lord Dingwall. Merida’s actions cause chaos in the kingdom that cannot be easily fixed, and when she turns to an eccentric old witch for help, she gets entangled in a dire curse. To save herself, she must muster all her courage and discover the true meaning of bravery before it’s too late. Despite the mysterious family ban on music that spans generations, Miguel dreams of becoming a famous musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. After a series of strange events, and eager to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the dazzling, exciting, and colorful Land of the Dead. With the help of a charming trickster named Hector, Miguel embarks on an incredible journey that reveals his family’s hidden history. Emotion and wonderful music abound in this Pixar story about memory, family, and song. The film was honored with two Academy Awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”).

Little Nicholas’ Treasure (2009) – Sensory Friendly Screening

Above all else, 9-year-old Nicholas loves to play and explore the world with his school friends, a crazy gang known as The Invincibles. Adorable yet notoriously mischievous, they get into all sorts of adventures, leaving parents and teachers to pick up the pieces. However, when Nicholas’s father suddenly gets a promotion that requires them to move to the south of France, Nicholas’s whole world is turned upside down. How can he live without his friends? The gang hasn’t said their last word – they hatch the ultimate plan to stop the dreadful move: a treasure hunt! And so begins the new adventure of the unstoppable Little Nicholas, the most famous schoolboy who has accompanied generations of children with his stories, thoughts, and pranks. However, their love doesn’t have the chance to blossom as Chornomor, the evil wizard, kidnaps Mila right before Ruslan’s astonished eyes, attempting to siphon her love to fuel his magic. Without wasting any time, Ruslan embarks on an epic adventure to rescue the kidnapped princess and prove that love is stronger than magic!

AINBO: Spirit of the Amazon (2021) – Sensory Friendly Screening

The movie will be screened dubbed in Greek.

The protagonist of the adventure is 13-year-old Ainbo, who lives deep in the Amazon with her tribe. One day, Ainbo discovers that her tribe is in danger. Not only are they threatened by the evil spirit Yacuruna, but the entire jungle is being destroyed by people exploiting it for industrial mining. Along with the comedic duo of spiritual guides, the adorable Dillo and the gentle Vaca, Ainbo decides to save her tribe.

Mary Poppins Returns (2018) – Sensory Friendly Screening

England, 1930s. Michael Banks was a small child when the perfect nanny Mary Poppins appeared in his life, but now he has grown up and has three children of his own. Times are tough in Depression-era London, and his family is struggling to overcome a significant loss. Michael’s children are taking on responsibilities that force them to grow up too quickly, and they are in danger of losing their home. Fortunately, things begin to change for the better when the ever-young and enigmatic nanny with unique magical abilities reenters their lives. Alongside Jack, an eternally optimistic lamplighter, she sweeps the Banks children into a series of spectacular adventures. Icare (2022) – Sensory Friendly Screening

Every corner of Crete is a playground for Icarus, the son of the great inventor Daedalus. One day, during an exploration near the palace of Knossos, Icarus makes a strange discovery: a child with the head of a bull is locked in a courtyard by order of the king. Secretly, even from his father, Icarus befriends the young Minotaur. However, fate takes a turn when Theseus arrives in Crete, and the Minotaur is led into the secret labyrinth built by Daedalus. Will Icarus be able to save his friend and change the course of a story written by the gods?
